The foundation of the "Jammu and Kashmir Sports Cadre" under the administrative supervision of the Youth Services and Sports Department was approved by the Administrative Council (AC), which was presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Outstanding athletes will be appointed to a total of 235 positions, including 10 gazetted positions.

Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the experienced Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Manoj Kumar Bhandari, the astute Chief Secretary working for the Lieutenant Governor, and Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, the distinguished advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, were all in attendance.

With this decision, the process of appointing exceptional athletes will commence, which has been entangled in various legal and procedural issues in recent years. The new rules have been formulated with the aim of motivating youth for sports activities and encouraging exceptional athletes. It serves as evidence of the government's efforts to revitalize sports activities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the national and international levels.

In order to provide a supportive atmosphere for the promotion of sports in Jammu and Kashmir, the government is working to regularize these appointments on an annual basis. Additionally, by designating exceptional athletes as mentors, young people will receive better training and development, and their participation in regional, national, and international tournaments will rise.
